Questions
How do I install the APK?
Download the file on your Android phone and tap it. If Android asks, allow "Install unknown apps" for your browser or file manager, then tap Install. You only need to do this once.
Why does it need SMS permission?
To read bank transaction messages and create entries automatically. A clear explanation is shown before Android asks you. All reading happens on your phone; SMS are never uploaded. You can decline and add transactions by hand.
Does my data go to any server?
No. There is no MoneyLogger server. Your data stays in a private database on your phone. The only thing that can leave the phone is the optional encrypted backup to your own Google Drive, and only if you turn it on.
Is it really free? Are there ads?
Yes, it is free, and there are no ads and no trackers.
How is this different from other expense apps?
It reads SMS directly, so it keeps working on Android 15 where apps that rely on notifications lose transaction details. You never hand over bank credentials, and you can teach it new SMS formats yourself.
